Going Old School Tech

I was reminded yesterday of just how old I am. Yes, I was in college when the internet became a reality. It was Prodigy Dial Up (BEFORE AOL). You could download your mail while you made dinner. Here are some other things to date me:

Here was the remote control I remember growing up. You had to PUSH the buttons down until it clicked and they stayed down. Ours was a RCA one but you get the point. From: www.univ-shop.com

I was soooo jealous when my brother got a cell phone! From: www.seefirstblog.com

We had this exact same yellow phone on the wall in our kitchen. We had a super long curly cord from the handset to the base so you could talk in privacy in the nearest bedroom. From www.oldphoneworks.com

I was the first kid on the block to have a computer (big surprise) and the Commodore 64 was rocking! DOS and GOTO anyone? From: www.larwe.com

All the cool kids played Pong on this! From: news.cnet.com

See anything familiar?

OMG, we had that yellow phone, too. Also, I remember we got our first microwave and our first VCR in the same year: 1985. They were both GINORMOUS. And our first cable box with a "remote" had a cord attached to the remote.

    • My parents still have the original microwave because it was one of the first that was attached to the oven. That yellow phone is an American classic I think

  2. I played atari growing up…it was my parents and we LOVED pong!!! The cell cracks me up!! haha! Hey what about the cool pagers did you get one of those when you were a teen?

  3. And we too had that exact yellow phone with a super long curly cord. Actually my parents got it for my room with my very own phone number. They couldn't stand how I was always on the phone. And the Atari….OMG does that bring back memories. And do you remember what the cameras looked like and the typewriters and the car phones back then even had the curly cord!

  6. hey my parents just got rid of the rotary phone they had in the kitchen last year….
I had the Atari, no cell phone here, our first computer was one of the first IBMs not the Commador, and our
TVs didn't even have remotes- I don't even remember when they first had one… and my dad is still using dial up with an ISP ;)
