Wendy’s Highschool Heisman Giveaway

I wanted to let you know about a great scholarship program going on at Wendy’s. With the economy the way it is, we can all use all the help we can get to pay for college.

High school seniors who have a 3.0 average or higher, participate in a school-sponsored sport and contribute to their community can apply at www.WendysHeisman.com, or a high school educator, guidance counselor, or coach can nominate them. As a little reward, the first 41,100 applicants will receive a free Wendy’s gift card in amounts ranging from $5 to $50. One male and one female from each high school will win the award and continue on in competition for state and national awards. Twelve national finalists will participate in Heisman Weekend festivities during an all-expenses-paid trip Dec. 11-13 to New York City. ESPN2 will feature all 12 national finalists during the Wendy’s High School Heisman Awards Ceremony, which airs Dec. 13. The Wendy’s High School Heisman website will display the names of all applicants and individual school winners on October 22, 2009.

Family Game Night

NFGN-BadgeI love the concept of Family Game Night. A night of good, old fashioned UNPLUGGED fun. Yesterday, I got a great box in the mail from Hasbro with 5 games for my family for tonight. Unfortunately, since my dad is moving from a nursing home in Arizona today to the one up here, I have to reschedule Family Game Night in my house.

But you know what? That is OK! I say if you can’t have family game night tonight, plan your own sometime over the next week. The important thing is to take some time with your family and UNPLUG! I admit, I don’t do it often enough. So, this weekend we will be taking a few hours to play some games together.

When I was in Chicago, Hasbro introduced me to this fun, very easy game to play with the kids: Crazy Old Fish War. The boys LOVE it! It is easy enough for Carter and Connor likes it too. That doesn’t happen to often in our house anymore! I am thinking we may take it (since it is a simple card game) over to the nursing home and play it with Pop Pop.

One more awesome thing about Crazy Old Fish War? Hasbro sent me a bunch of them to giveaway to Colorado moms. Make sure you are at the next Colorado Mom It Forward event and get yours!

Last Day of Summer!

Yesterday was the last day of summer. It snowed! Yes, people, it went from short wearing weather to snowing over night.021 The snow didn’t stick but it sure in shoot was large, white, fluffy, floating flakes.

Last night I hosted a twitter party so I was tired and wired and waited up til midnight for Bob to come in from his flight from glorious Phoenix. It was 100 there yesterday. Oh, I could just imagine the beautiful sun, the marvelous heat. I was so jealous! He was tired. He wasn’t impressed with the days Arizona heat. What has happened to this former Phoenix baby?

It was midnight, I was tired (I mentioned that, right?) but the thought of getting in those cold sheets kept me from going to bed. I finally went in, found Bob happy as a clam enjoying the cold crisp sheets. I lost it. I screamed. I yelled. I cried. I screamed and yelled about moving to the frozen tundra. I wasn’t very nice. I cried some more. I regaled against the unnaturnist (yeah, I wasn’t making any sense) of snow, let alone snow in September! Then you know what he did???? He got up and turned the heat on!

Now, why the heck didn’t I think of that???
