Meaningful Veterans Day Writing Activity

Exciting news! I have moved blogs. I am in the process of slowly moving all the posts over. Please join me at MomOffTrack.com.

A great way to connect Veterans Day to kids real life is to have them nominate a hero of his/her own. The National WWII Museum offers the Everyday Heroes Certificate Program. Students under the age of 18 use an online form to nominate a person for being an Everyday Hero. Nominees can be any positive role model in his/her life. What a great way for kids to thank those people that have made a difference in their lives. Nominees receive a personalized certificate in the mail.

Here is a blurb from their site explaining the program: ” The National World War II Museum honors the many heroes of World War II by celebrating their deeds and the values that they carried with them into the struggle. Whether on the battlefield or on the Home Front, heroes were in no short supply during the war. But you don’t need to have a war to have heroes. They come in all shapes and sizes, in all ages – and from some surprising places”
