San Diego Zoo Map Activity

I made this activity after a trip to the San Diego Zoo. For the lesson you need a copy of the map which you can find here and an activity sheet per student. The lesson objectives cover cardinal and ordinal directions as well as locating important information on a map using map symbols. In order to solve the last three questions you will need to have the kids look up the current show times and membership rates on the official zoo site (or you can omit them). Anytime your family goes on a vacation it is a great time to sneak in more social studies by having the kids read the map and plan the day. Take a few maps home and have them make your own fun practice game! I will gladly post any if you send them to me.
